At 2:19 a.m., officers responded to a crash at Sicklerville Road and Garwood Road and found a sedan trapped under the trailer portion of a tractor trailer, Gloucester Township police said.

The driver of the sedan failed to observe the tractor trailer was executing a left turn and began illegally passing him, police said. The sedan struck the trailer, causing it to be wedged under it by the rear axles, police said.

The driver and passenger of the sedan were able to exit the vehicle, where the passenger sustained a broken arm and several lacerations as a result of the crash, police said.  The driver, and sole occupant, of the tractor was not injured, police said.

Sicklerville Road and Garwood Road were shut down for several hours to allow emergency crews to operate and mitigate the hazards to the public, police said.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
